an independent consulting firm that focuses on a broad range
of services targeted at assisting small to mid-sized companies
and non-profits with Human Resources (HR) related compliance
and the management/development of their human capital. We
partner with our clients in designing and implementing effective
HR programs, processes and systems to help them achieve organizational
goals and objectives. Our client base is not industry-specific
and the majority of our clients typically have less than 50
employees.
Our mission is to be the preferred consultant on the fundamentals
of human resources for small to mid-sized employers and non-profit
organizations. Our firm is founded on the principles of honesty,
hard work and integrity. Our goal is to build trust and long-term

Barbara
J. Stewart, SPHR
Owner and managing member of shapingHR, LLC, Barbara
started her business in 2003 after 14 years as an HR professional
working primarily
in the manufacturing industry for two Fortune 500 companies.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Professional Communications
and Business Management from Alverno College, Greenfield,
Wisconsin, and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human
Resources. She has managed a wide variety of HR functions,
including recruitment and staffing, performance management
and training, compensation and benefits administration, HR
policy and employee relations. During her career, she has
held leadership roles in both corporate and field assignments,
in union and non-union environments, in multiple-location
business units. Professional memberships include Middle Tennessee
Society of Human Resource Management (MT-SHRM), and the national
SHRM organization. Barbara is the Vice Chair for MT-SHRM South,
and chaired the Sponsorship Committee for the 2005 SHRM State
Conference. She is a past board member for Mediation Services
of Middle Tennessee, and is a volunteer mediator with Mid-South
Mediation Services.
